Carriere® Distalizer™ Appliance

The Carriere® Distalizer™ Appliance is installed in the patient’s mouth before they begin their braces treatment. It has a sleek and non-invasive design and solves problems with the movement of your molars. As an appliance that is not removable, it can shorten treatment time by up to four months as it delivers a natural and gentle force for your distal molar movement. The goal of this appliance is to correct your teeth from their underbite or overbite. This is how the treatment works:

  • Anchor Point: The metal bar is installed directly onto your teeth as the dentist creates an anchor point in the mouth.
  • Connection: The anchor point is connected to the bar and the upper molar (or canine tooth).
  • Elastic Band: Lastly, the elastic band is placed in your mouth to create tension, thus shifting your bite.

Sometimes the Carriere® Distalizer™ Appliance can be used instead of the bulky and uncomfortable traditional headgear.

Forsus™ Fatigue Resistant Device

This device is specifically designed to address the fatigue failure issue, or Class II division 1 malocclusion. It attaches to the maxillary molar headgear tube and the mandibular archwire, ultimately creating a mesial force on the mandibular arch and a distal force on the maxillary arch, fixing your overjet problem. There are many benefits to this device, some of which include:

  • Aesthetics: Because this is a fixed device, it’s a great alternative to other techniques that normally require extractions, headgear, or removable appliances.
  • Consistently Working: As mentioned above, the fact that this is a fixed appliance means that you do not have to remove, install, or adjust it throughout the entire treatment. As a result, the device can work properly and consistently.
  • Comfort: This device is relatively small so even though it takes some getting used to, the patient will feel less discomfort with the compressed design.
  • Predictability: We know how this device works, allowing us to give you more accurate predictions in treatment time and overall outcome.

Forsus™ and PowerScope™ Overbite Correctors

Both of these devices aim to fix your overbite, but the Forsus™ is a fatigue-resistant device—as mentioned above.

  • Forsus™: This device is based on your overall treatment plan and requires one appointment for the installation at our office. The Forsus Wire Mount slides easily onto your archwire without the need for any molar bands.
  • PowerScope™: The treatment plan for the PowerScope™ is roughly 4 to 6 months. This device has a wire-to-wire installation that can be used with either bonded or banded molar tubes.
